Image Description – This is not a photo of a toy plane, of course, but I really like the sense of scale the plane gives the clouds.

Biography – Welcome to Northeast Light Photography. I am an amateur photographer originally from Red Wing, MN. I am transplanted in Connecticut, currently in my 13th year in the United States Navy. I reside in Griswold, CT with my wife, formerly Katie Hoisington of Red Wing and daughter Kaylin. I am stationed at Naval Submarine School in Groton, CT as a Fleet Responsive Training Instructor. I have completed tours on three operational fast attack submarines. Most of my photos are from the New England area due to my current career that pays the bills. I still occasionally get home to Red Wing. I take my photos using a combination of a Pentax Digital SLR, a Pentax film SLR, I primarily shoot landscapes, nature, and some architecture.

Image Description – This one of my favorite shots. Because since I took it, I have been back there numerous times, and haven’t been able to duplicate it. The mood, the light, the wave and sky texture. Everytime I set up to try to make the “magic” happen again, my feet get really wet. This shot was taken in the winter of 2009, at sunset, with a looming winter storm to the west. Watch Hill is a small “suburb” of Westerly, Rhode Island. This photo was taken from East Beach, a pristine public beach, with a great view of Watch Hill Lighthouse, and the Rhode Island Shoreline to the east.

Location – Watch Hill, Rhode Island

Photographic Gear – Pentax K10D, Tripod, SMC-DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 lens, ND .6 grad, C-PL, 2.5s at F/13, ISO100.
