Biography – A landscape photographer from Red Wing, MN. He now lives in CT, and is finishing his 15th year in the United States Navy Submarine Force.

Image Description – An October Sunrise at Hazard Rocks in Narragansett, Rhode Island. There was this storm line that rolled through right in front of me while I was shooting that morning. The formation had really cool shape too it, and changed the light very wonderfully during the time I was shooting. The sea state was a bit high that morning so I couldn’t get too close to the waters edge, so I worked this tide pool to my advantage for some foreground interest. Occasionally a wave would swirl the pool, and using a long exposure, I could capture it.

Location – Narragansett, Rhode Island

Photographic Gear – Pentax K-7 DSLR, Pentax 16-50mm f/2.8 lens, Tripod, Hi-Tech 2 & 3 stop Soft Edge GND, shutter release

Image Editing Software Used – Lightroom 3

Biography – I’m a photographer specializing in dynamic landscapes. I’m consistantly drawn to interfaces in the natural world – whether that be where dynamic meets stationary or where biotic meets abiotic – these areas of interface make for the best photographs. I hope you enjoy checking out my images as much as I’ve enjoyed making them. I’ve just relocated to Northern California after finishing graduate school in Rhode Island and I’m constantly amazed by the variety of the landscape on this new and exciting coast.

Image Description – It was a rough night of beer drinking but I decided that I should wake up nice and early to meet my friends down at the shore to shoot some photos. Ben was there and he’s pretty goofy looking (somewhat like a sasquatch) and also Andy was there, too. Ben proceeded to fall into the ocean while attempting a free solo some of the untamed Newton Ave terrain. I shot this one in between sneezing fits.

Location - Narragansett, RI

Photographic Gear – Nikon D200, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM

Biography – I am an amateur photographer originally from Red Wing, MN. I am transplanted in Connecticut, currently in my 13th year in the United States Navy. I reside in Griswold, CT with my wife, formerly Katie Hoisington of Red Wing and daughter Kaylin. I am stationed at Naval Submarine School in Groton, CT as a Fleet Responsive Training Instructor. I have completed tours on three operational fast attack submarines. Most of my photos are from the New England area due to my current career that pays the bills. I still occasionally get home to Red Wing. I take my photos using a combination of a Pentax Digital SLR, a Pentax film SLR, I primarily shoot landscapes, nature, and some architecture.

Image Description – This was a 136 second exposure taken during morning twilight at Newton Rocks, near Narragansett, Rhode Island, Summer 2009. The light was really good, and the clouds were moving pretty quickly, so I was able to use a ND filter to slow the shutter down to get cloud movement through the shot.

Location – Newton Rocks, Narragansett, Rhode Island

Photographic Gear – Pentax K10D, SMC-DA* 16-50mm, f/2.8, 3-stop ND solid, 3-stop GND filter, tripod, cable release.
136sec, F/9, ISO 100, 16mm, Bulb exposure mode.
